How your reports make a difference

Documenting the Unspoken

Our mission is that through providing a place for everyone to document their experience of sexual harassment, we can finally bring light to the severity of this issue and have statistics on paper of what is happening on a day to day basis.

Turning Data into Action

The aim is that once there is a regular cadence of reports coming in, or enough for us to derive insight and patterns, the data will be made available to organizations operating in the area of sexual harassment i.e. An Garda Síochána, rape crisis centres, as well as to inform policy and research.

Voices Driving Change

This data, our collective voices, will then go to informing solutions and next steps, as we move towards a society where sexual harassment is eradicated.

Why we need to report sexual harassment

Understanding the roots of sexual violence

Sexual violence often begins with learned attitudes and beliefs, with the normalisation of sexual harassment i.e. behaviours at the bottom of the pyramid. Sexist attitudes that become normalised and tolerated ultimately reinforce physical expressions of violence, with offenders becoming emboldened and moving up the pyramid.

Our overarching mission is to live in a world where sexual harassment and sexual violence doesn’t exist. Reportd was developed to:

  1. Provide a place where reports of sexual harassment and sexual violence can be submitted easily and anonymously.

  2. Collect real time data to document and understand the issue of sexual harassment and sexual violence.

  3. Help undo the normalisation of sexual harassment; These incidences should not be an everyday normal occurrence. This behaviour is unacceptable and warrants reporting.

If we are to eradicate sexual harassment and violence, we need to fully understand the extent of the issue. To fully understand the issue, we need to know about it. If we don’t report these incidents, they will always remain hidden and difficult to address. We understand that reporting sexual harassment and sexual violence can be painful, and we don’t take that lightly. By collectively reporting our experiences of sexual harassment and violence, we can shed light on this issue and give ourselves a real chance of making a meaningful impact
